Northshore Hamilton: Urban renewal project

Description: Northshore Hamilton is one of the largest urban renewal projects undertaken in Brisbane. Just six kilometres from the CBD, Northshore Hamilton consists of 80 hectares of former port land. The project gave back two kilometres of riverfront to the people of Brisbane, and creates a contemporary new riverside suburb that will be home to around 20,000 residents and accommodate 3,000 workers. The active recreation areas provide the residents of high density housing with opportunities to be physically active.

Features:

  • 13 hectares of public open space, including parklands, walkways and cycleways
  • the main park of 2.5ha includes an outdoor performance area, barbecue and picnic areas, a playground, and the Hamilton Port History Walk
  • the public can cycle or walk along the entire 2km of riverfront
